About
Bala (Sanskrit): Strength, vitality and inherent power.
In Sanskrit, Bala means strength, vitality, and inherent power. It speaks to strength that is structural, intelligent, and sustainable — not forced or performative.
Functional Patterns
Bala Biomechanics is a movement training practice based on Functional Patterns - a biomechanics-led system built around the human gait cycle.
In a landscape filled with stimulation and trends, Bala Biomechanics takes a grounded approach. Our focus is life-long structural integrity and efficient human movement.
-
A biomechanics-based training system that works with the body as a connected whole - focusing on posture, coordination, and how movement is organised over time. It also addresses how tension is stored and released - retraining the body to move as one connected system.
-
Each session moves from assessment to corrective work and integration - retraining movement patterns based on the human gait cycle.
Everything is adapted to your structure, coordination, and what your body is ready for that day. -
Movement that feels more connected, upright, and sustainable - reducing strain while improving long-term performance.
What we do
At Bala, we don’t isolate muscles or follow generic programs. We retrain movement patterns based on how humans naturally move - standing, walking, rotating, and transferring force efficiently through the whole system.
This includes the fascial network - the connective tissue that links the body together and plays a key role in posture, tension, and movement.
Over time, this improves coordination, reduces compensation, and builds strength that supports the body long-term.
FAQ’s
-
Unlike traditional exercise—which often isolates muscles or focuses on frontal-plane movement—FP restores alignment, balance, and proportional strength to reduce pain and improve long-term performance.
This is movement before muscle. Leave the “no pain, no gain” mindset at the door. Integrated training challenges the body in ways that build structure, resilience, and strength that lasts.
-
No. Functional Patterns is suitable for bodies at every stage: chronic pain, movement restrictions, coordination challenges, or those simply focused on longevity—as well as high-level athletes.
Training begins with corrective work to restore alignment, balance, and movement sequencing. This helps undo imbalances created by lifestyle factors such as prolonged sitting, injury compensation, or repetitive sports.
We meet you where you are. No two structures are the same, and every program is built accordingly.

An initial consultation.
Assessment and testing come first—before retraining and restoration can begin. -
The first five-ten sessions are slower paced and highly focused. The goal is to build neurological connections between brain and body, creating optimal tension and integrated muscle activation.
Movements are closely observed and precisely cued—directing how you tilt, shift, rotate, and engage—to rebalance tissue and awaken muscles in ways that may feel unfamiliar. You will feel challenged.
You will feel seen.
You will step outside your comfort zone—this is where change begins. -
For meaningful structural change, one–two sessions per week to start.
You’ll also be given homework to support your training and accelerate results. -
This approach is based on Functional Patterns and the human gait cycle — focusing on how the body moves as a whole, rather than isolating muscles.
The goal is to restore natural movement patterns, not just improve fitness.
